Shooting in the US city of Washington left one dead and 21 wounded.

Iran PressAmerica: The shooting happened Sunday morning (local time) in a residential area south of Washington city.

The shooting occurred during a family dispute at a nightclub, Washington police said.

The United States is facing a wave of violence, hostage-taking and armed attacks.

Thousands are killed or injured each year in shootings across the United States; according to official reports, there are approximately 270 to 300 million firearms in the United States; this means that one gun is found in this country for almost every person.

Despite calls from pro-civil rights groups in the United States, due to the power of the rifle lobby, so far no US government has been able to enact laws restricting arms sales.

US President Donald Trump also is a major supporter of the American rifle association.

At the beginning of his presidency, Trump told gun owners in the United States: "Eight years of violating the rights of American gun owners are over, and now they have a real supporter in the White House."
