Tehran (IP) - UN resolution 598 on 20 July 1988 accepted by Iran and Iraq ended 8 years of war initiated by Iraqi dictator Saddam. UNSC Resolution 598 called for an immediate ceasefire, the repatriation of prisoners of war, and for both sides to withdraw to the internationally recognized borders.
