On Saturday, the Iranian Foreign Minister met with UN Secretary-General on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to discuss cooperation and the situation in the region.

Iran PressAmerica: Emphasizing that the United Nations has played a more serious and constructive role in the region, the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said: "The UN needs a fair and responsible presence everywhere, from Palestine to Syria, Yemen, and Afghanistan."

Amir Abdollahian added: "The humanitarian situation in Palestine is still in a bad situation, due to the actions of the occupiers and the crimes of the Zionist regime. The final solution must be a referendum by the main inhabitants of Palestine."

Unfortunately, the United Nations has been passive, and I hope that will change during your period. The Iranian foreign minister went on to say that part of Syria's territory is under foreign occupation and that the inhumane siege in Yemen must end.

Amir Abdullahian continued: "The United States uses sanctions and terrorism against its nations and political goals, the most obvious example of which was the cowardly assassination of Sardar Soleimani."

The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres also rejected the US withdrawal from Iran's nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and announced his support for the deal.

At the same time, the UN Secretary-General called Iran's position on Afghanistan principled and said that a comprehensive government should be set up in Afghanistan so that all groups in the government have a voice.
